Photon Flash Player & Browser Review: Browser With Fully Operational Flash Player
Photon Flash Player & Browser is a powerful app that can do what no other mobile browser can. If there’s a Flash content that needs to be accessed, then downloading Photon Flash Player & Browser would be the best decision.
Functionality — 5/5
The app may not edge out Chrome or Safari which are considered the two best browsers, but it does so well that you can even switch to it without noticing any differences. You get to see here all the basic features like a privacy mode, bookmarks or intrusive ads blocker. It is even compatible with split-screen modes which allows you to browse several pages simultaneously. The main thing here is, of course, Flash player support.
Design — 4/5
Photon Flash Player & Browser’s design is clean and easy-to-understand. Basically, it’s the regular browser without anything distinct in terms of design. It works and it shows Flash content. That is its main purpose. Whether it’s better than Chrome or worse is just a matter of taste. However, it’s not possible to customize it so you’ll have to accept what it proposes.
Usability — 4/5
The Flash browser works here by streaming the page to your screen rather than rendering it on your device. The Flash itself is being run on a dedicated server so, in reality, you’re just watching a video of it as if you were watching YouTube. However, it doesn’t mean that you can only watch the video, you can also interact with it since the app sends data back to servers. It makes it possible to run different games or apps too.
Just tap the lightning button and you will switch to the Flash mode which enables streaming of content. The app also has some pre-installed tweaks that enhance your flash-viewing experiences like mouse pointer and game keyboard for the games that need arrows or WASD keys.
The problem with Flash is that when it was created there were no touch-screen smartphones. Therefore, the whole experience might be clumsy sometimes. While some games will run perfectly, others will remain unplayable no matter what you do.
Cross-platform use — 5/5
Reviewing Photon Flash Player & Browser was fairly easy both on iOS and Android run devices. There are no major differences between the two versions so it’s good to understand that you can remain with your favourite browser even if you get yourself a new device. It requires Android 4.1 and iOS 7.0 or higher so you can even run it on the older devices.
The app is not cheap by itself. You get to pay around $5 to download it for iOS which is high comparing it to its powerful competitors. But let’s be honest, you’re paying to view Flash content, not find a good-looking browser. In-app purchases are present as well although not intrusive as in other browsers. You can pay from $1.99 to $19.99 to enable extra features and disable ads.
The Bottom Line
Advanced users will undoubtedly appreciate how much control the browser offers. It’s not perfect but if you need a powerful tool to show Flash content then it’s the best choice on the market. Download Photon Flash Player & Browser if there’s a Flash content that you would enjoy seeing on your mobile device. If the Flash technology doesn’t really bother you, then there’s really no need for you to switch to it from standard browsers.Collapse
