Skype - free IM & video calls Review
Skype for iPhone is an app which allows you to make audio and video calls, also send chat messages and call landline or mobile numbers.
You can download Skype for iPhone for iOS, Android, Alexa, and Windows.
Functionality — 5/5
You can call other Skype users for free and also you can call and send messages to mobile or landline numbers for extra payment. Of course, you don't have here funny emoji camera that FaceTime has, but it’s not really important. But you can send your friends different giphies from the web and other different stuff like
Design — 3/5
Simple design with brand blue and white colors. Maybe even too simple - it would be nice to have more colorful themes available and a night view as well. Also, it's not very intuitive design in terms of the menu structure - sometimes it's difficult to find the needed option and the one you think is right actually is not what you were looking for.
Usability — 4/5
With this app, you can not only make video and audio calls and chat with people, but you can also call mobile numbers and landline which makes this app very versatile and it means that more people can use it. You can even send messages to mobile phones of your friends and family. You can do a minute for minute type of prepaid plan or get a minute package if you know which place you're going to call more often.
You can even get your Skype number which anybody can call from a regular phone. And when you go to another country, Skype gives you a new local phone number and charges you as for a local call without extra pay for roaming. This is the main point of this app - to make a great and cheaper alternative to your regular mobile phone.
Cross-platform use — 3/5
This Skype for iPhone review is obviously about Apple version of the product. It is good for iPhones, iPads, iPods touch, and Macs. But the problem that it doesn't work very well on either of them. Sometimes it gets suddenly shut down, can't connect to a receiver or simply glitches. You might not receive a message or call notification even if your settings are correct.
The credit plans in Skype for iPhone is called Skype Credit which begins since 2.99$ a month. The payment package depends on the location you'll call most of the time. You can also have Skype To Go and pay only for made calls with prices local to the country you're calling. For that, you have to always keep enough money on your Skype account.
The Bottom Line
You should definitely download Skype for iPhone in your Apple gadget because you have to understand that not everybody has an iPhone, it means that not everybody has FaceTime. Also there a lot more features and possibilities with Skype than with FaceTime including more options for SMS and the ability to use Skype as a regular phone with less money.Collapse
This app is a must-have for everybody who's not already on WhatsApp or FaceTime and who wants to save money on calls to real phone numbers.
Pros : Good to connect to a lot of people who uses Skype throughout the world;
You can call real phone numbers, also all over the globe;
