JPay Review
JPay is an app that allows you to transfer money to inmates. Download JPay and help your friends and relatives in need.

Functionality 4/5
JPay apk is not a regular personal finance app. Not only it specializes on making money transfers, but it also specializes on a certain group of recipients – namely, on those currently serving their sentence in prison. The functionality is adjusted accordingly: in order to make a payment, you have to specify the facility name and the ID instead of a phone or card number. You can also attach a photo to your payments.
Design 4/5
The design of the JPay app is rather simple – after all, it has only one primary function. Compared to modern banking and finance apps, JPay may look a little outdated, but it makes its job done. The main menu consists of several huge icons, so you won’t get confused by the interface. This simplicity allows you to make payments very quick, and there is also an option to repeat the last money transfer.
Usability 3/5
Having only a couple of important features doesn’t make an app worse, but these features must work decently at the very least. And the problem is, the JPay latest version has all kinds of problems with its features. Sure, you can send e-mails to inmates – but sometimes it takes up to five days for them to get through. And you get annoying notifications stating that there are new incoming e-mails, but when you check the inbox, it’s empty.
Moreover, the e-mails often arrive out of order, and that can make communicating via the app much harder or even impossible. The tech support doesn’t seem to notice these problems, and that makes the app useless. Of course, you can continue to send money using JPay, but you probably have to use another app to send e-mails to your friends and relatives. But be wary that not every facility is available, so check it out before you decide to download it.
Cross-platform use 4/5
Being featured in the App Store, this app works only on Apple devices. If your mobile device has another operating system installed, this JPay iOS version won’t work with it. That means you have to look for a compatible version somewhere online. But finding it shouldn’t be too difficult – at least, you can easily find the JPay Android version.
In-app purchases
This app is completely free, and it doesn’t have any in-app purchases. You can download it and start sending money right away.
The Bottom Line
This JPay review makes it look like a pretty useless app. But keep in mind that it occupies a very special niche, and you probably can’t find any better app to transfer money to inmates. Despite all its flaws, this app is still usable, and there is hope at least some of the most annoying bugs will soon be eliminated.
