HP ePrint Review
HP ePrint (aka HP Smart) is the app for controlling Wi-Fi-equipped HP printers from your mobile devices. With full functionality of controlling the printer and a scanning module, you extend the functionality of your scanner seriously. Download HP ePrint app named HP Smart and get rid of wires for printing!
The app is a control center for your HP printers connected to the network. With this app you can print documents or photos, set up your printer, adjust parameters of print, and so on. It also had extras like built-in scanner app: if your device doesn’t come with a scanning module, you can use the camera of your device as a scanner, and then edit and convert your scans with a built-in utility.
From the homepage, the app looks easy to figure out. It looks like the home screen of Windows Phone (remember?), with big colorful tiles. Each of them opens a certain mode. Then you see something reminding the instructions you had included in your printer box – visual, detailed, large explanations on how to do this or that.
First, make sure your wireless HP printers are on and online. Then launch the app. At the first launch the built-in wizard will lead you through the setup process. Then, on detecting all the printing devices, you will have a mobile dashboard for them.
Then you will be able to print documents right from your mobile deice, with no need to connect your phone with a cable or transferring your documents and pictures to an external carrier. Each mode is made specifically for a certain work mode (scanning, copying, printing) and a certain type of data (pictures, documents). Of course, you will need to access your printer physically to load paper, change cartridges when necessary, load documents to scan or copy, and so on.
The app also provides access to settings. You can fulfill all the service tasks, including adjusting quality, activating the green mode, printing test pages, and so on. Last but not least: if your printer is on and online, you can print both through your local network and the Internet.
Cross-Platform Use 5/5
There are versions of HP ePrint apps both for iOS and for Android. There is even more: there are two different apps – HP Smart (for home use) and HP ePrint Enterprise (for business). Both of them are free. They are updated frequently, so even the newest models are always supported.
The app is offered for free, as well as its business version HP Smart Enterprise. In fact, you have already paid for it when you purchased your HP printer, so it’s rather a bonus. Anyway, if you have no compatible printer, this app will make no sense for you.
The Bottom Line
It’s an absolute must if you want to access the whole potential of your HP printer. This app lets you save your time by connecting your phone directly to the printer. And yes, it does support multiple printers. So install HP ePrint app right after you connect your brand new printer.Collapse
It’s the next step after you purchase an HP printer to download HP ePrint app you’ll need for connecting it to your phone.
Pros : Compatible with most modern HP printers and multifunctional devices;
Lets you do the printing with no wired connection;
Full printer control from the app;
A standalone scanner application using your phone camera.
Cons : Makes no sense without a compatible printer.
