How To Use Netflix Party — Let’s Watch Flicks Together! on AllAppsWorld Top Blog

We are in quarantine and there’s nothing much to do. So, that means one thing only: it’s time to throw a party! And not just a regular one with karaoke, fruity vodka punch, and Just Dance for Wii.

No, this time we’re going to watch Netflix with friends. For it, you will need:

  • An active Netflix account.
  • An updated Chrome browser.
  • Netflix Party extension.
  • A bowl of Cheetos and your best buds.

And our guide will tell you how to use Netflix Party.

Step 1 — Setting up Netflix Party

Netflix Party how to use? Actually, it’s very simple. Here’s the algorithm:

  • Go to the app’s official site: https://www.netflixparty.com
  • Click on the download button: Get NP for free!
  • You will be redirected to the Chrome’s extension store.

Once you’re there, click on the blue button Add Extension. Two seconds later it will be installed and the extension’s shortcut will pop up in the top right corner of your Chrome browser.

Okay, Netflix Party download is complete. Note: the extension is available for desktop and laptops only.

Step 2 — Getting the party started

Now go to www.netflix.com and log in to your account. (Or create one if you don’t have it). Once you’re in, do this:

  • Select a movie/series you want to watch with your friends.
  • Click on the NP extension in the right top corner of Chrome.
  • Click Start the Party button.

After you hit this button, NP extension will generate a link. Copy it and send to your friends via WhatsApp, Facebook, or whatever social media you prefer. And voilà — a movie night is served and ready!

You can also be the movie maestro of the evening. Check the box next to Only I have control. This feature makes you a dictator of the movie night, so no one can skip forward or pause the show. The volume control will stay individual for each user, however.

But don’t forget: your friends should have the same arsenal: updated Google Chrome browser, Netflix account and the latest version of Netflix Party. And when it’s time to stop — click on the Disconnect button.

How to fix Netflix Party if it doesn't work?

Alright, you did everything our guide told you to. But NP refuses to work. So, what to do? There may be a few reasons:

1. Insufficient buffering

Before you can invite other people, you need to wait until the movie is fully loaded up. This is crucial to do, otherwise the extension will fail to have the different accounts synchronized.

2. Chrome problems

Make sure that your version of Chrome is the newest. If not, do the following:

  • Open Chrome.
  • Click on the More menu (three vertical dots).
  • Click Update Chrome button.

In case you don’t have such a button, then your browser is updated.

3. Too many tabs, bro!

Another nuance: your NP may be failing due to multiple tabs running. If you have any, apart from the Netflix website, shut them down immediately. Make sure, that there are no other background activities in the browser: file download, updating, etc.

3. Reboot

Final trick. Go to the Chrome Web store. Find Netflix Party again. There will be a blue button on its right Remove from Chrome. Click on it and wait until the extension is gone. Then reinstall it one more time.

Sometimes NP works for you, but your friends may fail to join. If that happens, remind them to: a) Click on the link you sent them b) Click on the NP button in their browser.

Netflix lazy evening

Hopefully, this guide was handy. Especially now, when you can't enjoy a warm April day due to the mandatory quarantine. But at least you have a roster of splendid Netflix shows: Witcher, Stranger Things, Love Is Blind, Tiger King that you can share with your peeps.

So, download Netflix Party, give your close ones a call and make the rumors spread that there’s a wild Netflix party down the block!
