Signal Launches Wireless Android Account Transfer via Wi-Fi Direct on AllAppsWorld Top Blog

As the growing number of WhatsApp users choose to abandon the messenger in favor of the more reliable and privacy-centric Signal, the latter is going out of its way to deliver upon expectations and please its customers with enhanced functionality and usability. The app is now rolling out a brand-new feature that will enable the wireless migration of account data between Android devices.

Currently in beta testing, the new ‘Transfer account’ tool will allow relocating all of your profile information as well as any data attached to it from one Android to another using an encrypted local Wi-Fi Direct network. This is a major improvement over the older data migration mechanism, which involved creating local or cloud-based backups.

To use the new option, visit your Signal app’s settings on the old phone => chats => transfer account. Make sure your new phone has the same app build, then tap on transfer or restore => transfer from Android device.

What do you make of the new Signal wireless data transfer feature? Would you like its availability to extend to iOS devices? Feel free to comment and share this post with your friends!
