WhatsApp Users Can Now Place Voice and Video Calls in Desktop App
Seeking to become even more accessible and user-friendly, WhatsApp has recently added a new voice and video calling feature to its desktop app. For the time being, Windows and Mac users can only expect to be able to make end-to-end encrypted one-on-one calls, but the messenger’s reps promise the functionality will further be extended to include group voice and video calls.
The new feature is designed to support both landscape and portrait orientation, which should make desktop calling experiences more relevant and useful. All the calls from the desktop client will happen in a standalone window on top of the screen so that your video chats do not go lost in a mass of open tabs.
The novelty will surely be warmly welcomed by millions of WhatsApp desktop client users who previously had to switch to their phones to take an incoming WhatsApp call or open Google Meet and Zoom on their desktop for a face-to-face video chat.
Are you excited to finally be able to make WhatsApp voice and video calls on a bigger screen? What other features of the WhatsApp desktop client are long overdue? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
