The Sims FreePlay is a beautiful game for mobile devices. It’s not just a copy of Sims 3 for mobile phones but rather a rethinking of the concept. Download The Sims Freeplay to understand how different it is and why it’s not the regular Sims game.

Graphics — 4/5

The game looks very good on a smartphone or even a tablet screen. It successfully delivers the genuine Sims experience to your mobile device as long as the device can handle it. Graphics are being constantly tweaked so you won’t feel like they’re outdated even in 2019. The user interface is very similar to what you were used in the full version of the game while the surrounding environment is colorful and crisp.

Gameplay — 5/5

The first things that are different are that Sims are now using emojis and speak perfect English instead of some unknown gibberish. You start as usual by customizing your character and placing him to a new house that you need to decorate or even rebuild. As you’re doing it you can also build relationships or pursue a career. Instead of immediately doing all at once like in the PC or console versions, new options open here step by step. If your Sim wants to eat it will take him a couple of minutes. If he wants to have a good 7-hour sleep it will take 7 hours. Time goes here as it goes in real life and there’s no fast-forward button.

You have daily goals to achieve like cleaning your house, although complex quests are also available. Every action also takes the energy that can be restored by taking a nap, shower and other activities.

Controls — 5/5

The game welcomes you with a tutorial in order for you not to get lost with all the touchscreen options you get here. You can do the basic stuff like pan, rotate, zoom in and out and eventually you start thinking that maybe it’s even more convenient to play Sims on a touchscreen. The user interface is very intuitive and helpful for inexperienced users so it wasn’t very hard to master them.

Replay Value — 3/5

It was hard to evaluate Replay Value of the game in terms of The Sims FreePlay review. It’s probably not the best option to start with if you’re unfamiliar with the series. It’s not that much story-driven as an original game and if you’re not making a lot of in-app purchases you may lose interest here fast enough. Generally speaking, you don’t get the freedom here that you get in computer or console versions

The Bottom Line

The Sims FreePlay is a great game but not for everyone. If you’re a Farmville fan and played Sims 2 or 3 then this game will most likely catch your attention. If freemium type games are not your cup of tea, no matter how much of a Sims fan you are, it will be forgotten eventually. Although I do recommend to try it out. Download The Sims Freeplay since it’s a beautiful game with a very interesting concept.

The Sims FreePlay is a great addictive game but it still has where to grow.

Pros : Real-time Sims experience;
Runs smoothly on all devices;
Regular updates.

Cons : Intrusive inapp purchases;
Limited customization options.

  • How to make Sims get married in the Sims FreePlay game?

    You have to reach level 10 to get your Sims married. After you meet that objective, progress through the goals until you achieve the “Get Engaged” goal. Then, let them “be romantic” until they are ready to take the next step — marriage.

  • Can I change a Sim's career?

    Yes, you can. Try this: open the Career tracking window and choose the icon representing Sim’s present job. Press the “Quit Job” button. After that assign a better career to your Sim.

  • How to add a new Sim?

    It’s easy — just tap on an empty home or vacant lot icon. If there is an empty home on the lot, you can instantly add a new Sim, but if not, build a new home.
